About Fiverr and How to Join It

Fiverr is a freelance services marketplace based in Israel.

Fiverr allows you to advertise and apply for tiny one-time tasks, or gigs, online. Jobs on the platform vary from “get a well-designed business card” to “assist with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and jQuery.” Fiverr is a business strategy based on offering temporary employment positions. Freelancers operate in a range of settings, from home to office. Fiverr is an e-commerce network that allows freelancers and businesses to sell their skills through jobs. The cost of a Gig is determined by how much a vendor earns per completed assignment.

Micha Kaufman and Shai Wininger launched Fiverr. The creators came up with the idea of creating a marketplace where consumers could purchase and sell a range of digital services normally provided by independent contractors. Writing, translation, graphic design, video editing, and programming are among the services provided on the website. Each service provided is referred to as a “gig.” Fiverr’s services begin at $5 and may cost hundreds of dollars with gig extras.

The website went live in February 2010 and by 2012, it has hosted over 1.3 million gigabytes.

Fiverr’s iOS app was released in the Apple App Market in December 2013, while the company’s Android app was released in the Google Play store in March 2014.

Amazon.com initiated legal action against 1,114 Fiverr merchants in October 2015, alleging that they give fraudulent reviews on the US edition of their website. “As Amazon indicated, we have worked closely together to eliminate services that violate our terms of use, and respond immediately to any concerns of improper content,” Fiverr said. Following an undercover sting, Amazon filed a lawsuit.

Fiverr reported in November 2015 that it has secured US$60 million in a Series D round of investment led by Square Peg Capital. The round increased their overall financing to $110 million.

It went public on the NYSE in June 2019. The corporation reported $189.5 million in sales for the 2020 fiscal year on February 18, 2021, a 77 percent increase from the prior fiscal year ($107.1 million).

VeedMe, a video creation marketplace, was bought by Fiverr in 2017.

AND CO, a creator of software for freelancers, was bought by Fiverr in January 2018. Many of AND CO’s functions, such as invoicing, are “built into” the Fiverr marketplace, according to then-CEO Micha Kaufman, but “the vast bulk of freelancing happens offline”—and Fiverr wants to support those offline connections.

Fiverr bought ClearVoice, a premium subscription-based content marketing platform created in 2014, in February 2019.

SLT Consulting, a boutique digital marketing business specialised on social media marketing, search and SEO, as well as brand and content marketing, was bought by Fiverr in August 2020. The agency got its start on Fiverr.

Working Not Working, a creative talent marketplace, was bought by Fiverr in February 2021.

Fiverr has been chastised for selling extremely low-cost graphic design services. At the end of 2014, a public backlash erupted in response to Fiverr’s Facebook page advertisement, which stated, “You’re paying too much for design.” Fiverr raised the five-dollar basic price in 2013 and began letting logo designers, graphic artists, voice over artists, and other vendors to charge the fees they determined for themselves.

A buyer has the entire right to request a refund once a task has been finished. Critics believe that Fiverr’s equal-rights policy should strike a balance for both vendors and purchasers.

Fiverr was chastised in 2017 for commercials that portrayed unhealthy living and excesses in work activities as standards to strive after.
